Just as I was getting dressed, BigGeek got out of bed in the morning scratching his head and uttered these words. “I think the orange platy fish is dead.” He hadn’t even been downstairs to the fish tank. Why did he think the fish was dead? Maybe BigGeek was turning yogic. “How do you know it is dead? You haven’t even been downstairs to look at the fish tank yet.” I mumbled carefully applying my eye shadow.
“Well, I think it was dead last night.” BigGeek said.
“Last night?”
“Well, I thought it was sleeping. I didn’t think it was dead.”
“Was it breathing?”
“No.”
“Then it’s dead.”
“That what I thought. It might be dead.”
“Oh no! the fish was lying dead in the fish tank. That might have contaminated the water.”
“Will you please, please take it out? Please?”

because there were 2 fish remaining.. geez.. the crowd I have to work with here :)
I'll wait for the "Then there were non" post. Muhahaha!! It happened to us. So why not you? Huh??
I'm missing something.
How does it contaminate the water? I can see it freaking out the other fish but "contaminate"? Did it die of some passable disease?
That's what sucks about pets. They die. I HATE that. And fish seem to do it so often it feels like spite.
Like GTN, I am waiting for the "Then there were none" post ;)) (hopefully not soon).

i thought the outcome of this post would be the biggeek was somehow responsible for killing the fish. morbid, huh?
gtn: you are SOOOOO EVIL. I get upset with dead fish. (strange? when I have salmon fillets in the freezer?)
lacochran: It might have. But I was scared the dead fish would have started to decompose and contaminate the water.
shobana: I cannot believe how morbid you people are! I was IMing my dad yesterday and telling him the sorty and he laughs and says I am turning the fish tank into a cemetary!
mona: good lord! The only fish he will eat is salmon and halibut. See, that ths thing abt fish. You know you are not supposed to eat cats and dogs, but BG will go fishing (if he could fish) and eat the fresh catch. Why do I feel squemeash if someone tells me they want to eat fish in my tank!
sorry the fish died, but am glad this happened before my watch this weekend :)
To the others: You may soon hear the "And then there were none" after I get to feed them this weekend.

gnd: thanks for offering :) The auto-feeder does not work. We put it on last night and it just flew across the room this morning. And fish die like crazy. I am buying a bigger tank next month and putting many more there :)

What type of fish were they?Goldfish tend to live only for a few months.We had 4 two years back and the last one died last week.So thats a pretty good record.We are planning to put in some new ones in the coming weeks.

Tania: There were to mickey-mouse platyfish and two tiger barbs. One of each died:( Having a goldfish for 2 years is pretty darned impressive!
dead fish.. eeeew.. was it stinky ?
emaan: naah. just cold and sallow and sunk to the bottom. the tiger barb when it died, floated to the top. The platy sank to the bottom.
