The artist formerly known as DotMom

One morning as DotMom was waking up from anxious dreams, she discovered in bed she had been changed into a monstrous verminous bug. She lay on her armor-hard back and saw, as she lifted her head up a little, her brown arched abdomen divided up into rigid bow – like sections. From this height the blanket, just about ready to slide off completely, could hardly stay in place. Her numerous legs, pitifully thin in comparison to the rest of her circumference, flickered helplessly before her eyes.

“What’s happened to me”, she thought. It was no dream.

OK. I better stop before I get sued. So I have metamorphosized to a new moniker. And like the paragraph above it too is plagiarized borrowed. When I started this blog, it was a device to coerce me to write regularly. To polish my craft. To bore you. Chip and BigGeek were was my muses and still are. But I am more than a wife and a mother. My blog is more than a mother-and-wife blog, or I so I hope. And thus, the moniker follows suit. The moniker is a hand-me-down. It was BigGeek’s a very long time ago. And he graciously allowed me to take it. I wish he were that way with his T-shirts too. (I borrow them anyway and cook in em and stain them with curries and he has given up).

I think I am going to miss my old moniker though. For a few days anyway. It was such a tacky pun, but I liked it. But I like the new one too. Sorta cool, a lil pretentious. Very 90’s. Hope you all like it too!

(And a thousand, no million apologies to Kafka.)

I did a double take when I saw your comment on my blog! Why the Meta-change, my dear. Dotmom rolled off the mental tongue so easily. I'll try and make friends with your new name, Kafka-esque Dottie!

Yeah me too! When I saw this comment on my phone, it showed only this bit "DotThoughts (The artist former..) and I wondered this is DotMom..right? So I jumped right on to my blog, to the comments section and my guess was confirmed.

Its not just you, even we are going to miss your old moniker! Do let us know if you get second thoughts about changing it back :P

But then I remembered a song by Gulzar "Naam gum jaayega, chahra yeh badal jayega, meri awaaz hi pehchaan hai, gar yaad rahe!" :)

But Dottie..what's in a name? Didn't you saw that once?

With time, like everything else, I will get used to Dothoughts.

Oh well, Dottie.

but u shall remain dottie! :)
u know ur moniker always reminded me of the one thing i persistently say in marathi... coz it doesn't have that effect in any other language i know... "timba timba timba..."
:D
for all u non-marathi folks.. that means "..."

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
My poor brain ALWAYS got mixed up with DotMom and DDMom. DDMom being a friend whom I keep in touch through the phone too, she mentions something we have spoken abt in her comments and more than a few times, I have freaked out how in the world DotMom knows about this?

Now, no confusion. This is one name change I am happy abt. And if those nasty ppl bug you to comeback to your old name, let me know. I can 'take care' of them.

PS: Dot-Mom or Dot-thoughts, you know that you will be Dottie right?!?

Kafka, eh? You know what came to mind when I read your first line? Calvin, who's always waking up tranformed into something else! :-D

I agree with the rest of the lot here!
What's in a name? DotThoughts is equally good,
but you will always be Dottie! :-)

oh boy, here we go again....
well i guess it helps that u retained the "dot" part but seriously the way i feel abt these name changes is when the lead in your favorite t.v show is now being played a new actor...does that make any sense???
oh well...i guess i'll just stick to calling u dot!

Once your metamorphosis into momdom is complete is it ever possible to ignore the process and not be suffixed with "Mom"?

But as Dotthoughts, you possibly hold the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything, so -yay!

Saw comments by Dotthoughts elsewhere and was thinking idly if the two of you knew each other. I guess you do! :-D
Well, anyway Dottie can still be used.:-)
